Patient Information for Ketamine Treatments
FIRST STEP
The first step is to schedule a phone Consultation & Evaluation today to determine if ketamine therapy may be appropriate for you.
COORDINATE WITH YOUR PROVIDER
During your ketamine therapy we encourage therapy sessions with your health care provider to maximize and increase the duration of effects. We work directly with your mental health provider to coordinate this portion of your treatment.
DAY OF TREATMENT
On your scheduled appointment day we will ask that you DO NOT eat 6 hours prior or drink 2 hours prior to your treatment. Wear loose comfortable clothing with shirt sleeves that can be easily rolled up to check your blood pressure and start an intravenous line.
CHECK IN
Once your history is reviewed with a staff member an intravenous line will be started and a low, slow dose of ketamine tailored for you will be infused over about 60 minutes. You may feel the effects of drowsiness, floating or being disconnected. Nausea can be a side effect of ketamine, that can be treated easily with medication. Your vital signs will be monitored throughout the session and a member of our staff will be watching over you closely.
GOING HOME
For your safety we will require that you have someone to drive you home after each treatment. The peak effects will wear off before leaving the clinic, but some linger feelings of drowsiness can persist for a few hours afterwards.
FOLLOW UP
To ensure the best treatment results we will ask you to complete a questionnaire to monitor your feelings and general attitudes throughout the entire treatment protocol. We work closely with your mental health provider and primary doctor as a team to achieve the best possible results for you.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS
You may take prescribed medications the day of your treatment with sips of water, but not any sooner than two hours prior to your treatment. Patients on benzodiazepines, such as Xanax (Alprazolam), Ativan (Lorazepam), Valium (Diazepam), and Klonopin (Clonazepam) may have a reduced response to ketamine.
To achieve your best results, we may ask you to abstain from taking a dose 12 hours before your ketamine treatment. SSRI’s and NSRI’s and Tricyclic Antidepressants will not interfere with ketamine, there is no need to stop them. Avoid any consciousness altering medications, CBD or alcohol on the day of your procedure. It is perfectly safe to take these medications with ketamine.
OSMIND MOBILE APP
At AyaFusion, we are working with Osmind to improve your care journey. We would like you to download the Osmind mobile app, which is a central hub for us to track your progress and communicate in between appointments.
The app helps us track your progress and fine-tune your treatment plan. The app also helps you submit out-of-network insurance claims — helping make reimbursements faster and saving lots of effort.
